A Man's Nightmare (Gregor Samsa)

The Metamorphosis

"The metamorphosis" by Kafka has been translated into different versions, and different short movies have been acted to represent the transformation of Gregor in the actual story. But the problem with these movies is that, they do not cover the full story of Gregor as in "the metamorphosis" by Kafka. In this regard, I will be comparing the short movie on metamorphosis by Carlos Atanes and the main text of the story by Kafka in order to identify the aspects of Gregors physical and psychological ordeals that are present or absent between the movie and the actual text.

  3. This should be a great comparison analysis. It is going to be interesting on how you pull in the two works to answer how the physical and psychological aspects are different. It is obvious in both that there is a physical difference in Gregor. In The Metamorphosis Gregor under goes a complete transformation, and in The Metamorphosis of Franz Kafka Gregor transforms but still has a slight human appearance. Maybe this is to represent the loss of humanity of Jews during the rain of the Nazi regime. As to in the original text Gregor could represent the distancing of himself to his family per-transformation due to work and responsibility. Which lead him to become cynical and losing his free spirit to ultimately lead to his physical transformation that sets him aside from society. In all there are many ways to analyze the two and form a wonderful comparison between the two.
